ca. 1920 - A remarkable creation involving a double layer of heavy porcelain clay.  If you look closely you will see an inner finished column decorated with clusters of pink flowers, all individually hand made and attached to a vine.   The outer layer has been tool cut inch by inch and wrapped to form the cover.    A Greek Key pattern around the top, scroll work around the base and Chinese writing finished in 18k gold complete this bowl.
Size is overall 9 1/2 inches X 3 12 inches and almost 3 lb. in weight. 
The Chinese words have been translated to say "Wishing You Happy New Year - Making Much Wealth - Prosperity".     In wonderful condition - no cracks, chips or crazing.  
The base is clean and unglazed with no maker mark.   This was not an export item but it is determined it was made in China by a highly skilled craftsman.
