Pre-war example - This is the early porridge bowl 7 1/2 inches wide and 1 1/2 inches deep created during the 1930's.   Over 2 lb. to ensure baby doesn't upset the contents.   This bowl is in wonderful condition, has never been in a dishwasher which will destroy the coloured print.   Here the rabbit family are enjoying a musical jamboree.   The added weight of this bowl accounts for the increased shipping.   This bowl bears the original signature of Sister Mary "Barbara Vernon" and is a hard-to-find item these days in such wonderful condition.   Sister Mary Barbara Vernon passed away in 2003.

Bunnykins are a specialty line of the Royal Doulton company which began creating a line of "nursery china"  first produced in  1934.   The daughter of the General Manager, Barbara Baily, was asked to create the original drawings and with that a family of rabbits were born.   These illustrations created by the very talented Barbara were transferred prints to the many childrens sets which included bowls, plates, egg cups, cups and saucers, etc.     Shortly after she designed the Bunnykins family of rabbits, Barbara Baily entered the convent where she became Sister Mary Vernon.   Her signature is on all the first items created  from 1934 until 1953 but production ceased during the WWII years.       Royal Doulton did not reintroduce the Bunnykins line until 1969.
